Excuse Me??? Beyonce’s Ego

Maybe we’re just immature, but we really can’t help but giggle a little (a lot) when we listen to Ego off of Beyonce’s new album “I Am… Sasha Fierce,” dropping November 18th. What starts off as a jazzy, soulful jam quickly devolves into an orgy of sexual innuendos; it’s a hip-hop number, you say, of course there are sexual double entendres! Double entendres, however, require subtlety (eg. “I’ll take you to the candy shop / I’ll let you lick the lollipop“). Let’s take a quick look at the chorus of Ego, shall we?

“It’s too big / it’s too wide / it’s too strong / it won’t fit / it’s too much / it’s too tough / he walk like this cause he can back it up / he got a big ego / such a huge ego / but i love his big ego.”

There’s really not much left to say but: B, since when did it become appropriate to dedicate a song to Jay Z’s member?

Maybe we’re just reading into it too much!

We’d like to take a brief moment to direct listeners to a recent bit of lyricism from a remix to the track that is currently the number one song in the country. Lil’ Wayne croons in the remix to Lollipop:

“I flushed out the feeling of me being the shit, cause i was leaving skid marks on everywhere I sit.”

We’ll add that his new album, “Tha Carter III”, is currently on track to make a million-copies-sold debut. Inspiring news if we’ve ever heard it.

We’d like to take a brief moment to direct listeners to a wonderful bit of lyricism from a little pop song called So Yesterday. We came across this tidbit of Duff philosophy the other day; yes, the song’s mad old, but we were still taken aback by this startling insight. She sings it at the emotional climax of the song.

“If the light is off, then it isn’t on.”
