Lucy has a field day: Jordin, Mariah, and Madonna

Here’s a little round-up of what’s been happening in Lucy’s world of music:

#1: Jordin Sparks has a new single, One Step At A Time. It’s funny, we remember listening to the song pre-No Air‘s MASSIVE success and thinking the track was incredibly mediocre; a listen post-No Air, however, reveals the song to be a smart and flirty single choice. We get the impression this happens a lot, and is part of many a listener’s mentality: the success of an artist’s early singles having a dramatic effect on later single’s success, perhaps even more so than the quality of later singles. Check out the video for One Step At A Time below. Jordin’s slowly growing into her fame, you go Jordin!

#2: Mariah Carey’s new single is I’ll Be Loving You Long Time. We love the track; in our books, it blows Touch My Body (and certainly Bye Bye!) out of the water in terms of single potential. We think the song will do quite well; it’s simple, and pure Mariah. Out of fear of Mariah’s ruthless record label (a few sites were shut down for posting Mariah material) we’ll post the song via a YouTube video (sorry, no (Heidi) montage of Mariah pictures.)

#3: Madonna also has a new single, Give It 2 Me, produced by Pharrell. We like the song; we loved the song when “Hard Candy” first came out and it’s slowly lost its luster for us, but it has radio potential. Check out the video below. It’s incredibly mediocre.

That’s all folks.
