“Un” from Dan Black

The debut album from buzz-kid Dan Black, “Un,” is finally out and about in full, and it’s chuck full of more of his signature electro-R&B grooves.  The album opens with his make-it tune and renamed first single, Symphonies (the jam was originally called Hypntz, and was originally a cover of Biggie’s Hypnotized), and spans 12 tracks of mid-tempo electro-infused symphony: his borderline-nasal vocals, laced over heavy electro-beats and screeching strings, make “Un” a very decent debut.  While it’s remarkably undanceable for what it is, it’s Black’s mid-tempo-ness that makes the album a standout: if Dan Black were a Rihanna song, he’d be Take A Bow.  Favorite tracks: Ecstasy, Alone, U + Me =, Life Slash Dreams.
