Linus’ Blue Blanket: Volcano Choir

Above: Volcano Choir takes a nap.
Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon (of last year’s massive “For Emma, Forever Ago”) and fellow Wisconsinites Collections of Colonies of Bees have banded (literally) together to form a new project, Volcano Choir. Vernon provides most of the vocals for the group, but says their isn’t even all that much singing, and that the new music is “definitely more on the experimental side of things.” You can check out an awesome new track, Island, IS from the band’s upcoming debut LP “Unmap”; it’s not all that acoustic and folksy like “For Emma, Forever Ago,” but a little more sprightly, a lot more Sufjan-inspired, and we’re loving it.
“Unmap” drops September 22nd, and you can peep the track list and cover art below.
“Unmap” track list:
01 Husks and Shells
02 Seeplymouth
03 Island, IS
04 Dote
05 And Gather
06 Mbira in the Morass
07 Cool Knowledge
08 Still
09 Youlogy
