it looks like a pretty beautiful piece of equipment, huh?
in no more than two months, ads for apple’s glorious new iPad will inevitably surface: what tunes will the marketing geniuses at apple carefully select for the campaign? what combination of indie appeal & sass, spunk & energy, radio potential & a catchy hook, will send an unknown act rocketing up the itunes charts? apple has made it happen for css, feist, the ting tings, matt costa, & yael naim among others: who’s next?

Great list, though I suspect there will be some aversion to the use of Shooting Stars given McDick’s beat Apple to the punch on that one. It is truly a shame that the Aussie duo were taken to that level in that way. I’m now voting for EOS or VV Brown.
Great idea for a post and some smart choices for contenders.
‘Things Will Never Be the Same Again’ is a good title, but the tone of the song doesn’t match really. ‘Rollerblades’ is too similar to ‘New Soul.’ I really like the feel of ‘ABC’ and ‘Add Your Light to Mine. ‘The sound and lyrics of ‘Walking on a Dream’ are very appropriate. And I had that VV Brown song on repeat this summer, so it’s ripe for Apple’s picking. ‘Shark in the Water’ isn’t bad thematically — the iPad is poised to kill the Kindle and chew up anything else in its way. With some splicing to emphasize ‘Better get here soon’ or ‘Better be soon,’ that’s a good ad just before its arrival in stores. Plus, it’s fanfaric and it’s got the perfect ‘ding’ at the end for an Apple commercial.
Listening to VV’s ‘L.O.V.E.’ now, and that’s not bad either. “Love me, just love me, just hold me, just kiss me, just want me, L-O-V-E love love love!”
